Avoid drinking through a straw.

Avoid smoking, because when you inhale smoke, you are also inhaling the air.
If you are wearing dentures, make sure they are tight fit, poorly fitted dentures allows you to swallow air while you speak or while you eat.
Treat mild heartburn with over the counter antacids.
Avoid eating hard candies and chewing gums, when you chew gum and suck hard candy, you tend to swallow more air.
Avoid excessive consumption of onions and chocolates, they may also cause burping.

For quick relief you can chew a spoonful of celery seeds.
